Dear Ralph,
Thank you so much for the saddle pads. They are very nice and I will get a lot of use out of them. My saddle fits my horse, Blue, very good. I am so thankful that you were able to make it for him; he is not nearly as sore as he used to be before I got your saddle.
Things are going alright this year; my winter was a little slow but I am looking forward to the summer and fall rodeos. I am still roping with Chance Kelton from Arizona. We are both looking for some new horses, so if you know of any good ones, please let me know; they are hard to come by these days.
Well, I hope all is going well for you...thank you once again for the awesome saddles and the pads. I really appreciate all you have done for me.

A leather ground seat (left) is put into the saddle tree to get the right shape in the saddle seat and to permit proper freedom of stirrup leathers. Ralph Shimon is shown hand shaving the ground seat with a shaving tool to get an ideal seat that will put the rider close to the horse.

Dear Ralph,
Please send me one of your fully illustrated catalogs. I am riding one of your saddles now and it has been used plenty hard, and is still in good shape. It is 10 years old. The best saddle I ever sat in, for man or horse. It's still fine, but, I am kinda getting the 'new saddle fever'.

The edge of this saddle skirt (left) is being hand rubbed with wax on a piece of canvas to give a smooth, neat appearance. The skirting leather has been stamped with popular basket design.
